I decided to go downtown again to adventure around with my field recording bag. I covered some good ground this time; I started out at a construction site, made my way to a pond near the peace center, then crossed the street and went over to the Greenville News building. After all the previous recording, I decided to head towards Falls Park. Along the way, I stopped and recorded in a parking garage beside the park.
This location was rather nice to record at, as there were so many sounds to be picked up at once from all the various people working. Below is a recording of some of the work going on. Near the end, you hear them yelling; basically while I was sitting there, a big wind came along and started to blow all their paperwork around.
Peace Center Pond:
I recorded at this pond the last time i was in greenville field recording so i decided to take a different approach this time using my hydrophone i build.
Parking Garage:
Falls Park:
Recording in the park was rather moving as there was a good amount of people that seemed to be interested in the recording. Some came up and talked to me and asked questions, and others just stood back up on the bridge while I climbed around the rocks and down into some tight spaces to record (although some of those people were probably just waiting for me to fall). I had three nice old people, a lady and two gentlemen, come up and talk to me for a bit after one of my times down near the water. I let them hear what I was working on; it was really moving to talk to someone so interested when I am living in an area that just finds some of this stuff plain weird.
Air Conditioner:
After i was done recording for the day and was heading back i heard this air conditioner kick on and it sounded really lovely so i went to find and record it.

Yesterday me and joe and his girlfriend decided to go check out the fall for greenville event so i took my bag of things along in case we came across a place to record. I decided to show them this one stream over near falls park which had this little bridge which i figured would be a fun place to record under. The setup i used was my macbook running ableton live, a mxl mic and a mbox interface.
In the video above it is layered with the recordings i took, but i do plan to use them with some instruments to make a new piece.
Im working on some stuff for a upcoming show in october at a place in greenville, ill have more info on the show when i get the date and everything, but until then you can see the progress made on my set. This is just working on some really lofi sounds that will be a big part of it, i need to cut down both of the chains a little bit so i can add one more and then i need to add a resample of each. In this video all you are hearing is the audio from the sends.
Here is some footage i took of my friend joe(ghostaudio) playing a show at javajolt the other day, he is using a monome mainly in this part of his set but he later uses a guitar as well tho i was unable to get any decent footage of that.
This is a little video i recorded on the way home the other day all the audio is random sounds on my ipod and sounds from the truck being ran through different audio filters in final cut, something pretty simple but i really love the color of the video and the overall feel of it.
Heres a little video with some footage of downtown when me and my friend were field recording, If you would like to check out everything we did that night you can head over to here, http://www.seeyouinsleep.com/blog/2009/5/13/city5122009.html
Ok so i got some inspiration from this picture i took a week ago to pull out my little handmade synth which uses photocells, it was made by my friend Kyle Evans he goes to the chicago art institute and makes synths as a hobby (a hobby he is rather good at). I decided to record a little over a minute and a half of the synth into ableton and then i started to cut it up and place different parts into various chains and This was the outcome.
