exploring sounds in newry mill w/ wendy owens

Me and my friend wendy decided to go on a little field recording trip out to the newry mill that i went to a few months back i hoped to get alot more recorded this time because last time i focused mainly on footage.

The main room we were recording in was the furnace room i believe, here is some footage of the recording below.

I found a little electrical box that had a series of tumblers that you could spin there was also random metal in there than made little clinks and noises.

Here is a clip of wendy messing around with the pipes hanging down from the mill.

This clip is from a little wheel that was on a wooden door.

And here are some more clips of wendy exploring around the mills sound.

All in all this was a really fun trip, it was nice to have someone with me this time around exploring the sound of the place, this is a space i play to return to time and time again, there is so much to explore and so many possibilities.

recording sounds in warehouse from cherry picker

Last night at work i decided to pull out some stuff since i had not had the chance to go on a break yet and just record a few things i was up on the cherry picker putting away some stuff and decided to set my recorder up and record some of the sounds going on.

exploring stone slate

My mom has this painted stone slate that hangs outside their garage, when its really windy it dings up against the brick and places nice little sounds, so today i decided to take it down and mess around with it a little.

 Below is a video while i was recording what i planned to process,

recording water using reverse speaker mic

big propane tank + mallets + outside

So i was taking out my grandmas trash tonight before i left to go to the radio station and i seen that she had a rather big propane tank so i figured i would get my mallets and recorder out and give it a few hits before i left, id like to go back and try it out with contact mics im sure it would sound a whole lot better.

Random Object Improv: washers, soda tab, matches, speaker

This is a very unpolished and raw improv i did using random objects i just started to grab, the whole thing is a one take live recording using my zoom h4 in stereo mode and nothing was edited.

I really enjoyed doing this the speaker worked really well as a lead of sorts and the washers and soda tab were very good for a sort of texture.

Field Recording - Afternoon in the front yard (stereo)

I did a recording in my front yard this afternoon with my h4 using the internal mics in stereo mode, i like this recording cause you can hear the cars on the road as well as birds, someone cutting their grass and so on, very nice vibe to this one.
