While changing the lp tank on my forklift i have always liked the sounds it makes when being tapped so i decided to take a little clip below, i love the natural reverb it has to it.
Sound, empty, field recording, forklift, lp tank, reverb in Field Recording Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 8:20PM this was a little experiment i had thought of awhile back when i was going to buy a hydrophone the idea was to hang a hydrophone down from the ceiling into a container of water that was placed on top of a piano, the vibrations of the piano would then vibrate the jar/water and then go to the hydrophone.
I took that same concept and ran it into ableton live i then ran the sound through 3 sends each with a different style of reverb, and the 3rd was ran through a beat slicer before the reverb.

after looking over it i wanted to make a note about this,
in this experiment all the sound is not coming from the water as the cord is touching the glass and that will vibrate the mic so keep that in mind i will be doing another test where the sound is coming from just the water.
Sunday, September 6, 2009 at 4:22PM we were messing around with the masonverb i made the other day and i decided to put it under my friends congo cajon and see what it would sound like, we ran the mic to the boss Me-50 and then to a amp. I decided to pull out my camera and record the little clip above.
Congo Cajon, Inside, diy, drum, manipulation, masonverb, mic, reverb, w/ in Drum(s) Sunday, September 6, 2009 at 1:14AM The masonverb is a diy mic with a reverb like effect to it, basically its a glass plate reverb, it was made by building a contact mic into a masonjar which leads to the name.
This idea happened by a accident of sorts i made the jar with the contact mic in it to use with ants to record their movements but i then seen while recording a video how well the sound from my camera turning on traveled throught the jar and decided to go with it from there.
The way it works is the sound travels through the mouth of the jar and vibrates the walls as it travels down to the base where the contact mic is, The mic picks up the main vibrations of the sound that hit the jar as well as what travels through the jar giving it a nice yet different reverb to it.
Here is a little jam session of my friend joe and his brother playing Takamine guitars which i recorded using the masonverb and a mxl condensor mic for backup, tho almost all of the reverb is coming from the jar. Joe is playing a tweleve string and his brother jon is playing a six string.
Below is a little test using the jar with feedback the sounds we made throughout this were very interesting.
Monday, August 24, 2009 at 8:31PM First off i want to say im starting to use final cut for everything because i deleted imovie by accident and cant get it back on my computer but things should be better this way just give me some time to get used to it.
Another thing is im now using a little hd camera, the zi6 by kodak, its nothing fancy just a nice little pocket cam i can keep in my gig bag so most of my stuff will be shot with that from now on.
Ok time to get to the video, i wanted to test out the camera and a idea for a performance im going to give, i want to use just a toy piano and real time effects in ableton live, in this test all im using is some reverb and delays and a plugin called dustbreeding, the mics are also picking up sound from outside here and there. keep in mind this is just a little test i am working on a more thoughout piece for the perfromance.
Monday, August 17, 2009 at 3:15PM Imperfect is a minimal improv video piece/song made on a kalimba using ableton live for real time effects, im really happy with this piece and video i would like to start doing more things like this insted of the other things that are more focused on what the computer is doing, all in all i like this piece alot.

Below is some footage of my set.
Ive been a big fan of arms and sleepers for some time so it was a really nice thing to share a space with them i was able to get some footage of their performance as well, its a little dark but you get the point.
